A painted pine French morbier tallcase clock from the Jura mountainous region of France. Morbier, also known as Comtoise clocks have the unique characteristic of ringing the hour twice, the second time two minutes from the first. This clock has a bell chime that also rings once on the half hour. Double weight driven, runs approximately eight days. In running condition with a winding crank included. From France, circa 1860's.
