Tall Haussmanien Style Doors-1800’s France strong>
This is a stately pair of Haussmanien style antique doors from France. They are constructed of pine, circa 1870 and they are still in very good condition. Each door is adorned with wonderful bronze antique handles.
George Eugene Haussman was hired by Napoleon III to turn Paris into a "grand city" and become the capital of France if not the Empire. For many decades, this undertaking was the largest transformation of any city in the world. Here we began to see tall beautiful buildings with massive doorways and architectural elements.
The moldings on these doors are straight lined and symmetrical. The ornamentation is simple, while their height is imposing, making a strong statement.
