This very fine example sits on four hand turned cherry legs with 'x' stretcher. The round cartouche is titled "The Franklin Terrestrial Globe 12 inches in diameter Containing All the Geographical Divisions & Political boundaries to the present date (1872). Carefully Compiled from the best authorities. N.B. Nims & Co., N.Y. Rae Smith, Engraver." There is also a "Table of Equation showing the difference of time between the Clock and the Sun, also the declination of the Sun for every day of the year." Finished in tan with hand coloring. Engraved brass Meridian with built in time pointer. Fully mounted with horizon ring having engraved paper with month and zodiac scale. Unrestored and in outstanding original condition with only the usual expected light toning and fading!! Scale: 1 to 42,500,000.
