Description

In hand carved and lead weighted boxwood and ebony, the Staunton chess set was named after English chess master Howard Staunton (1810-1874). It was introduced by Jacques of London in 1849 and quickly became the standard.  This set, the Anderssen type, was produced between 1855 and 1869.  White king signed Jacques London. Together with a 19th century chess board.
