Le Louvre Antiques: "If Only The Pieces Could Talk..." -Annick McNally

Le Louvre French Antiques is a shop in Dallas that is just as charming as its French owner, Annick McNally.  Annick was born and raised in France, moving to the U.S. in her twenties.  What began as a background in design and a desire to visit her relatives in France more often, turned into a lifelong passion and career in antiquing.

“I got into antiquing because I loved it,” she said.  “Being in Texas, I felt very far away from France, and I began many years ago to start designing lamps.  One thing led to another, and then I eventually had a store of lamps with some antique pieces.  So, I’d create a lamp and think, ‘Well I have to have something to put the lamp on.  It has to be sitting on something…’”

Le Louvre French Antiques is a direct importer of 18th and 19th century French furniture, accessories, and Château Architecturals.  The shop has been around for 25 years now and is filled with one-of-a-kind pieces.

“When people see something that’s unusual, they’ll sometimes wait for right moment to buy it, or put the piece on layaway…and then, it’s gone.”  Annick’s advice to collectors is the same advice she follows when selecting antiques for Le Louvre.  “When you see the right thing, GET IT!”

Although Annick’s store has a wide variety of inventory, her passion is for antiques that are, as she put it, “chateau-ish.”

“The appeal to me is the grandeur of the pieces and the history of châteaux.  If only the pieces could talk,” she laughed.
